Acclaimed blues rock guitarist and vocalist Anthony Gomes brought his hard-rocking blues flavor to Chan’s in Woonsocket, RI, for two sold-out nights on April 11 and 12.
RILiveMusic had the pleasure of covering the opening show on Friday night. Anthony Gomes took the stage with authority and his usual flair, performing fan favorites and new material from his 14th studio album, Praise The Loud, which will be released on April 25th.
From the opening note to the last, Gomes’ performance remained intense and entertaining. The energy was high, the amps were turned up, and the connection Gomes has with his audience, both old and new, is remarkable, especially in an intimate room like Chan’s.
Although it could be said that Gomes has outgrown the modest size of Chan’s venue, he continues to make it his go-to RI spot when touring New England. During the show, he reminded the packed house of how much he appreciates the support that he has received from Chan’s and the local music community.
The extremely tight and talented power trio consists of Anthony Gomes on guitar and lead vocals, Jacob Mreen on bass and backing vocals, and Chris Whited on drums and backing vocals.
Over the years, Gomes has topped the Billboard Blues Chart at #1, earned the endorsement of legends such as B.B. King, tallied tens of millions of streams, and packed shows on multiple continents. His much-anticipated 14th studio album, Praise the Loud, has already received “praised” reviews with the release of the two singles, True That & the title track, Praise The Loud.
